Video consultations
Run a consultation over video from the doctor and patient portals.
A teleconsultation is a live video call between a doctor and a patient, held right inside Hello Homeo — no separate app to download. The doctor sees the patient in one window and fills in the case sheet in the same session.
Booking a video visit
When a patient books — on your public booking page, or when your front desk creates the appointment — they choose Teleconsultation instead of In-Person. Everything else is the same: the request comes in as Pending, an admin approves it and assigns a doctor, and the patient is notified.
For the doctor
/c/your-clinic/doctor/consultation/{appointment}- 1
Open the appointment and start the consultation as usual.
A teleconsultation appointment shows a video panel with a Start Call button.
- 2
Click Start Call to open the room.
Only a doctor (or an admin) can open the room — the patient can never start it first, so you're always in before they are.
- 3
Allow your camera and microphone when the browser asks.
- 4
Conduct the consultation, filling in the case sheet alongside the video.
- 5
Click the end-call button when you're done.
This ends the call for everyone and closes the room. The patient sees a message that the doctor has ended the consultation.
For the patient
/c/your-clinic/patient/teleconsultation/{appointment}The patient joins from their own portal. Their screen guides them through three stages.
- Waiting for Doctor
- Shown before the doctor opens the room. The page checks every 10 seconds and switches by itself — the patient just stays on it.
- Doctor is Waiting
- The doctor has started. A Camera & Microphone panel checks the patient's devices, and a green Join Video Call button appears.
- Call Ended
- After the call, with Back to Appointments and Go to Dashboard buttons. The patient's records and prescription are updated shortly afterwards.
- 1
Go to Appointments and click Join Video Call on the approved video appointment.
- 2
If it says Waiting for Doctor, stay on the page — it switches automatically when the doctor starts.
- 3
When Doctor is Waiting appears, check the Camera & Microphone panel. If either says Blocked — how to fix, click it and follow the browser instructions.
- 4
Click the green Join Video Call button.
- 5
You join with mic and camera off — click the microphone and camera buttons to turn them on, and click Allow when the browser asks.
- 6
Click the red button to leave when the consultation is finished.
In-call controls
- Mute / unmute the microphone
- Turn the camera on or off
- Share screen — useful when a patient wants to show a report or a photo
- Leave call — the red button
